Examine Your Environment: Social Psychology    July 27, 2025         Groupthink:  Groupthink, by definition is the tendency to prioritize conformity when thinking of anything within a group. The problem with groupthink is that we sometimes can forget or brush off critical thinking in order to better conform to the group of which we are in. This method of thinking tends to cause many problems such as the suppression of critical thinking, a lack of intellectual diversity, stress, a lack of outside perspectives, and much more. We should be much more conscious of this mindset as we engage with our social groups to ensure we are not compromising our own morals or values when being a part of these groups.    Examine Your Environment: Social Psychology    July 26, 2025         The Looking Glass Theory: The looking glass theory which was introduced by Charles Cooley in 1902 essentially is the theory that an individual's ability to grow their self or social identity is dependent on the presence of others/ a social life. We can usually see this theory when we see those videos about kids who had no siblings and were homeschooled. We see that they are usually strange at least until they spend more time in social groups. While this is largely a stereotype, it does hold some truth and accuracy. This is because in a lot of cases, when these people are children, they are not around other children or social groups which is usually detrimental to their development. That's all for now, please stay tuned for more! Resource:  Looking-Glass Self: Theory, Definition & Examples
